Letting Children Go

The NY Time Motherlode has an article here about two sisters who leave a fundamentalist church.  The discussion centers on the issue of children leaving the dogmas they were raised on.

I’ve always loved what Kahlil Gibran said: Your children are not your children . . . You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls.”

I think we need to teach our children compassion and integrity, and then trust that they will work out the details themselves.
