The Daily Beast has an article here describing three very
different school districts that have all been successful in raising student
achievement.
The thing that jumps out
at me about these school districts is that the teachers were made part of the
decision-making, and the decisions were made locally. The successful
schools that I've taught in operated the same way. I would just add that
reading scores will really soar if the development of a love and habit of
reading becomes a priority.
