Gates Foundation and the Common Core Standards

It turns out the Gates Foundation bankrolled the development of the Common Core Standards here.  

And the Common Core Standards are having a devastating effect on education. They are diving curriculum changes that make kids dislike reading. Then what have we gained? There is ample research (see the work of Stephen Krashen of UCLA) who shows that teaching skills is just testing skills. Kids acquire skills through wide, avid reading.
