Sequestration and Education

Tell Me More on NPR has in interesting interview here with Claudio Sanchez about how sequestration and budget issues are affecting education.

I wonder if what’s happening in my own family is a microcosm of what’s happening in the country.  I taught in public schools for twenty-eight years.  Our three children attended public schools and public colleges.  But not one of my five grandchildren is in a public school, and not one of my children teaches.

My guess is that the combination of the public schools’ test-driven curriculum and lack of funding will drive more and more people out, which will result in less and less support.  I don’t think this bodes well for our country.
